Speakers celebrate Prince Bola Ajibola's contributions to education, literature

 





The Crescent Literary Village of Crescent University, Abeokuta, has celebrated the enduring legacies of the institution's late founder, Prince Bola Ajibola, for his remarkable contributions to education, law, arbitration, literature and humanity.


The tribute came during Literary Day 2026 with the theme, "Celebrating the Enduring Literary Legacies of Prince Bola Ajibola."


Guest Speaker and Vice Chairman of the Association of Nigerian Authors, Mr. Dare Folarin, described the late jurist as a disciplined personality, passionate about writing, journalism and literary development.


Mr. Folarin urged Nigerian writers to produce children's books on Prince Bola Ajibola to inspire younger generations with his values and exemplary life.


In a keynote address, the Head of the Mass Communication Department at Crescent University and promoter of the MASHET Global Education Framework, Dr. Kola Adesina, described Prince Ajibola as an accomplished writer, poet and humourist who used wit and indigenous proverbs to address complex issues, including during his service as a Judge of the International Court of Justice.





Earlier, the Registrar of Crescent University, Barrister Zakariyya Ademola Ajibola, appreciated the organisers of the event, particularly the founder of the Crescent Literary Village, Scholar, Mr Akanji Olaniyi, for sustaining the literary vision in honour of his late father.


Other speakers, including Dr. Lucky Aikabeli, Comrade Olukunle Sodipo and Mrs. Callista Adebayo, said the late Prince Bola Ajibola's contributions would continue to impact humanity.


The event also featured awards of excellence presented to the Proprietor and Chairman, Board of Trustees of Crescent University, Prince Ma'ruf Adesegun Ajibola, ; the Registrar, Barrister Zakariyya Ademola Ajibola; Dr. Kola Adesina; and Mr. Dare Folarin.


Awards of honour were equally presented to pioneer President of the Crescent Literari Village, Mujeebat Idris; pioneer Vice President and Secretary, Muhsin Ashimi; and the Director of Programmes, Roqeebat Onigbanjo, in recognition of their contributions to the organisation.

The current executive members, led by President Alim Adekanbi, were also recognised for outstanding service.

Ogun Opens Registration for 2027 Hajj Exercise

Aina Obasanjo  The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced registration for the 2027 Hajj exercise, calling on intending pilgrims to begin preparations for the pilgrimage. Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Taiwo Ajibola, made the announcement while speaking with journalists at the Board's office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.  Alhaji Ajibola said prospective pilgrims are required to make an initial deposit of eight million naira, pending the official Hajj fare to be announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria. He urged interested applicants to complete their payments early to secure a place for the pilgrimage, noting that the registration exercise is expected to close on or before September 2026. Alhaji Ajibola advised intending pilgrims to visit the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board at the New Secretariat, Block B, Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, or contact the Board through its official telephone lines for further enquiries.
