Ogun TAMPAN Praises Crescent University for 20th Anniversary Stage Play.

The Ogun State chapter of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), led by Comrade Owolabi Yekuola Ajasa JP, has praised Crescent University, Abeokuta, for sponsoring a special stage play titled “ASIRI ILU EGBA” to celebrate its 20th anniversary.

In a statement, the Association thanked the university’s Proprietor and Chairman Board of Trustees, Prince Ma’ruf Adesegun Ajibola SAN; the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Gbajabiamila; and the Registrar, Barr. Zakariyya Ajibola for supporting the project both morally and financially.

They also commended the Head of Mass Communication Department, Dr. Kola Adesina, who came up with the idea and chaired the 20th Anniversary Committee. Dr. Adesina researched and narrated the story used for the stage play. The scriptwriting and direction were handled by veteran filmmaker Yinka Saliu Kareem, popularly known as Y.S. Kareem.

The stage play impressed the audience with its strong cultural message and powerful performances that showcased the history and heritage of Egbaland.

After the performance, TAMPAN Ogun State Governor, Comrade Owolabi Ajasa, described the partnership as a major step in strengthening the relationship between academics and the creative industry—often called the “town and gown” relationship. He appreciated the university leadership and the organizing committee for their full support.

Dr. Adesina also spoke on the importance of collaboration between universities and creative professionals.

The production featured many respected theatre icons and skilled actors, including Pa Tubosun Odunsi, Pa Moses Omilani Egunleti, Alhaji Ebun Oloyede (Igwe Theatre), Hon. Gbenga Adebayo-Oladunni, Emir Kayode Akindina, Yeye Yetunde Kehinde-Aina, Prince Adeleke Adetutu, Rev. Adedegun Adesina, Prince Temilade Adelesi, Segun Ogungbe, Mosun Adesanya, Biola Adekunle, Yemi Jimoh, and many others.

TAMPAN Global President, Otunba Dr. Bolaji Amusan (Mr. Latin), also applauded the Ogun State Chapter for upholding the Association’s high standards. He said projects like this help to promote Nigerian theatre internationally.

Ogun State TAMPAN confirmed that it will continue to support activities that encourage education, culture, and creativity within and beyond the state
