Aisha Jubril Wins Debate competition on World AIDS Day at Crescent University
A 500 level Student, Aisha Jubril has emerged winner of a debate competition put together the Nursing Department of Crescent University, Abeokuta as part of the activities to commemorate the 2025 World AIDS Day.
Aisha Jubril who spoke on the theme of the competition "Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response", scored 76%, to emerge the winner, a 200 level student Adesewa Adeyemo finished as the first runner up, with 70% while a 500-level student, Roqeebah Onigbanjo emerged as the second runner up with 67% score.
In his opening remarks, the head of department, Dr Ademola Shafiu expressed his gratitude to all faculty members of his department for strengthening the capacity installed by the Proprietor,Prince Ma'ruf Ajibola SAN, to deliver a world class programme any time, any day.
He said, knowledge should not be limited to reading or classroom activities but be manifested through public speaking and speech deliveries. He added that nurses should be the voices of the voiceless and should proceed beyond clerking and nursing care to leading global discussions.
In their separate contributions, the three judges, Mr Idris Katib of Public Relations Unit of the institution, Dr Ademola Bello of Nursing Department and Dr Rabiu Popoola also of Nursing Department commended the quality of presentation, poise, impact and organization of materials presented by all contestants.
Highpoint of the competition was the presentation of cash gifts to the winners.
The winner went home with a departmental cash prize of Twenty Five Thousand Naira, first runner up with Twenty Thousand Naira and Second Runner up with Fifteen Thousand Naira respectively.
In another development, Dr Shafiu was conferred with the Nigerian Achievement Award by People&Power at the 2025 PSR National Award.
At the presentation, the organizers unveiled as follows:
"This souvenir is presented in attestation that Dr (Prince) Shafiu Adewole Ademola has been conferred with the Nigerian Achievement Award by People&Power in recognition of his sterling contribution to nation building in the sphere of nursing education presented this 29th Day of November, 2025 in Lagos, Nigeria.
It is recalled that Dr Shafiu has led Crescent University Nursing Department to six consecutive one hundred percent in RN, RM and Public Health professional examinations in recent times.
