Ogun Government Renews Support for Community, Artisans Empowerment

Ogun government has renewed its administration's support to empowering communities, artisans, and community leaders to develop their skills.

Governor Dapo Abiodun gave the assurance in a message to the 2025 International Community Day and World Trade Day held at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Kuto, Abeokuta.

Governor Abiodun, represented by his Deputy, Mrs Noimot Salako-Oyedele noted that the present administration had supported communities, artisans and cooperative societies in the State with soft loans and grants as well as the training programmes in financial literacy and enterprise management.

He announced the opening of job centers and workhorses in Abeokuta, Ota and Ijebu Ode to support participants, job seekers, and small businesses, noting that plans were on to expand the initiative across other local governments areas of the state.

Governor Abiodun encouraged  beneficiaries of the grants to use the resources wisely and continue to work together for the progress of their communities.

In their separate remarks, the Chairman, Ogun State Community Development Council,  Chief Adetayo Adefemi and the  Chairman Ogun State Trades Council, Mr. Omoniyi Babatope commended the efforts of the state government towards the development of the state.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Community development and Cooperatives, Chief Ademola Balogun had expressed optimism that the grants-in-aid would support community development associations and trade groups in addressing key development needs such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure.

Chief Balogun noted that the government would monitor compliance and provide priority support to communities that demonstrated exceptional performance.
