Crescent University Unveils New Programmes in Cybersecurity, Software Engineering



The Vice-Chancellor of Crescent University, Abeokuta, Prof. Ibraheem Gbajabiamila, has announced the introduction of newly approved academic programmes in the institution following approval by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

Speaking at the 21st Matriculation Ceremony for the 2025/2026 academic session, Prof. Gbajabiamila disclosed that the university has commenced Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree programmes in Software Engineering and Cybersecurity. 

He assured students and parents that all academic programmes offered by the university are fully accredited by the NUC and relevant professional bodies.

The Vice-Chancellor also cautioned newly admitted students to shun cultism, drug abuse, examination malpractice, violence, and other social vices, warning that such acts could lead to expulsion from the university.

In a remark, the Proprietor and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Prince Adesegun Ajibola, expressed gratitude to parents for trusting the institution’s vision of academic excellence and sound moral upbringing.

Prince Ajibola urged them to regard Crescent University as a collective project rather than seeing it as belonging solely to its proprietors.

He commended the Crescent University Alumni Association for its donation of five million naira to the institution and for pledging additional support towards a building project. 

The Board of Trustees Chairman encouraged the newly matriculated students to emulate the alumni by contributing to the growth and development of their alma mater in the future.

Also, The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), represented by the Head of Matriculation and Monitoring, Mrs. Kafayat Ibiwoye, congratulated the students and praised Crescent University for its strict adherence to approved admission guidelines.

A total of 567 full-time students were matriculated from six colleges: Bola Ajibola College of Law (BACOLAW), College of Arts, Social and Management Sciences (CASMAS), College of Health Sciences (COHES), College of Natural and Applied Sciences (CONAS), College of Information and Communication Technology (CICOT), and the College of Environmental Sciences (COES).

 In addition, 270 part-time students were admitted across various programmes.

MAPOLY Rector Urges Alumni, Stakeholders to Support Institutional Growth
