Triplets' Mum Gets Help from Ogun First Lady




The First Lady of Ogun State, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, has pledged support for a 32-year-old mother of five, Mrs. Esther Shaibu, who was reportedly abandoned by her husband after giving birth to triplets.

Mrs. Abiodun made the promise during a visit to Iperu General Hospital in Ikenne Local Government Area, where the triplets were delivered on January 2, 2026. 



She assured that the state government would support the family’s immediate needs and explore long-term economic assistance.

The First Lady also commended the Federal Government’s free maternal healthcare programme in general hospitals, describing it as a major relief for expectant mothers across the country.

She praised the medical team at the hospital, led by Consultant Gynecologist, Dr. Olukayode Taiwo, for their professionalism and quality care, which ensured the survival of the babies, weighing 2.4 kilograms, 1.5 kilograms and 1.08 kilograms at birth.

Mrs. Abiodun emphasized the importance of early antenatal care, particularly in high-risk pregnancies such as multiple births.




The mother of the triplets, Mrs. Shaibu, appealed for employment opportunities for herself and her husband, while noting that she began antenatal care late, at 28 weeks of pregnancy.

She called for increased awareness on the need for timely medical attention during pregnancy.
