Dr Bolaji Odusina Declares Bid for Ogun 2027 Governorship Race

A 62-year-old medical practitioner, Dr Bolaji Odusina, has declared her intention to contest the Ogun State governorship seat in the 2027 general elections, pledging to reposition the state for sustainable socio-economic growth.  

  

The renowned founder of Doctors Without Prejudice, made the declaration while speaking with journalists in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.   

  

Dr Odusina said her decision to join the race was informed by her desire to contribute meaningfully to governance and improve the living standards of residents across the state.  

  

The governorship aspirant who announced that her political platform would be unveiled in the coming days, expressed confidence that her experience in the medical field and humanitarian services had equipped her with the capacity to lead effectively.  

  

She lamented what she described as pressing challenges confronting the state, including rising unemployment, increasing insecurity, and poor road infrastructure, particularly in rural communities where access and connectivity remained major issues.  

  

Dr Odusina emphasised that her administration would adopt a proactive approach to security by strengthening community policing through the deployment of modern technology.   

  

She added that local vigilante groups would be properly supported, trained, and integrated into the broader security architecture to combat cultism and other criminal activities.  

  

Speaking further, she outlined key priority areas of her proposed administration to include education reform, youth and women empowerment, infrastructure development, and agricultural advancement aimed at boosting food security and creating jobs.  

  

She also highlighted the need to harness the state’s cultural and tourism potential, noting that proper investment in the sector could significantly increase internally generated revenue and attract both local and international investors.  

  

On power supply, Dr Odusina acknowledged the negative impact of irregular electricity on businesses and households, stressing that strategic partnerships and alternative energy solutions would be explored to improve power availability across the state.  

  

The governorship hopeful, who hailed from Ijebu, appealed to residents of Ogun State to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), describing it as a crucial step in participating in the democratic process and shaping the future of the state.  

  

She reiterated her commitment to inclusive governance, transparency, and accountability, giving the assurance that her administration would prioritize the people welfare, if given the mandate in 2027.
