Ogun Government Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthening Grassroots Economy
The Ogun State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to boosting grassroots economy through various empowerment, Grants and soft loans.
Commissioner for Community Development and Cooperatives, Hon. Ademola Balogun, made this known while receiving members of the Alheri Food Traders Association, Olomore Market branch in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, pledging the full State support of the state government for market associations.
Hon. Ademola reiterated the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration’s dedication to improving trade associations structures and driving initiatives that would bridge the gap between the government and grassroots stakeholders, ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach every corner of the State.
He pledged that members of the Association would be integrated into various grant and loan schemes designed to stimulate economic growth and strengthen cooperative societies.
The Commissioner commended the traders for their unwavering commitment to the economic development of the State, noting that they were key in the present economic landscape.
Earlier, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Inter Ethnic Affairs, who doubled as the leader of the team, Prince Hadi Sani, had explained that the visit was aimed at strengthening collaborations between the Association and the Ministry in line with the collective vision for a sustainable development and economic growth in the State.
He highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships between government and trade associations, noting that such synergy was essential for fostering inclusive development, empowering small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) and enhancing the overall cooperative framework that sustains the livelihoods of thousands of traders.
Prince Sani added that the visit served as a platform to showcase the significant contributions of the Association to the local economy, pledging that beyond commerce, the group would continue to support government in all its programs aimed at improving the lives of residents, as well as ensure peaceful coexistence among traders from diverse backgrounds, which aligns with the state's vision for a harmonious and prosperous society.
