ALL STARS FOOTBALL CLUB ABEOKUTA CELEBRATES 2026 WORLD FOOTBALL DAY

The Chairman of All Stars Football Club Abeokuta, Alhaji Lawal Adeoye Waheed, has joined millions of football enthusiasts across the globe in celebrating the 2026 World Football Day with the theme: “The Transformative Power of Football.”



In a statement in Abeokuta to commemorate the occasion, Alhaji Lawal described football as a unifying force that transcends boundaries, promotes peace, strengthens friendships, and inspires positive change in society.



According to Alhaji Lawal, football remains one of the most powerful tools for youth empowerment, talent discovery, healthy living, and social integration, while also contributing significantly to economic growth and community development.



“Football is more than a sport; it is a universal language that brings people together irrespective of tribe, religion, or social status. Through football, lives have been transformed, dreams have been realized, and communities have continued to experience unity and progress,” he stated.



The All Stars Football Club Abeokuta Chairman noted that grassroots football development remained essential in nurturing future stars and promoting discipline, teamwork, and leadership among young people.



Alhaji Lawal also commended football stakeholders, coaches, sports administrators, and supporters for their commitment to sustaining the growth of the game in Nigeria and beyond.


He urged governments, private organizations, and well-meaning individuals to continue investing in sports infrastructure and youth-focused programmes that will further harness the immense potential of football as a catalyst for national development.



“As we celebrate World Football Day 2026, let us continue to use football as a platform to promote peace, unity, inclusiveness, and positive societal transformation,” he added.


The All Stars Football Club Abeokuta reaffirmed its commitment to promoting football development, friendship, sportsmanship, and community engagement through the beautiful game.
