Delu Advocates Long-Term Policies for Youth, Sports Growth in Ogun

The Senior Special Assistant to the governor of Ogun state on youth and sport Hon. Tunde Delu has described his recent award as a recognition of hard work and a motivation to do more for youth and sports development in Ogun State.
Speaking after receiving the honour in Abeokuta, Hon. Delu said the award also reflects the commitment of Governor Dapo Abiodun in providing sports infrastructure across the state, including the MKO Abiola Stadium and other sporting facilities aimed at engaging youths positively.
Hon Delu who is also the Chief Operating Officer of the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation noted that although his role with the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation and recent coaching development programmes may have contributed to the recognition.
On the future of sports development in Ogun State, the Sports administrator stressed that government should remain a continuum, adding that there is still enough time for the present administration to initiate impactful policies and host major sporting events before the end of its tenure.
He maintained that youth development must remain a continuous priority for every government.
According to him, Ogun State should concentrate on selected sports where it has comparative advantage and build sustainable development structures around them.
He also disclosed that rugby has not yet been included among the featured sports for the forthcoming National Sports Festival adding that efforts are ongoing to convince sports authorities in Enugu State to include the game.
