Nigeria tops medals table at 2026 African Cycling Championships

 



Nigeria has taken an early lead at the ongoing 2026 Confederation of African Cycling Para-Track and Track African Championships in Abuja.



Team Nigeria currently tops the medals table with an impressive total of sixteen medals comprising nine gold, five silver, and two bronze medals  after two days of competition at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Velodrome.



The championship has attracted over one hundred cyclists from eight African countries, including Egypt, Kenya, South Africa, and Algeria.


Egypt is currently second on the medals table with fourteen medals, while Kenya occupies third position with nine medals. South Africa and Algeria complete the top five standings.


Nigerian cyclists thrilled home supporters with strong performances, showcasing speed, endurance, and technical brilliance throughout the competition.


The championship has also highlighted the quality of facilities at the Abuja Velodrome, which has received praise from participating teams and officials.
