Ogun Police neutralize two suspected kidnappers, arrest alleged kingpin, gang member





The Ogun State Police Command says operatives of its Anti-Kidnapping Unit have neutralized two suspected kidnappers and arrested an alleged kidnapping kingpin alongside another gang member during an intelligence-led operation in Ogun State.

Police spokesperson, Mr Oluseyi Babaseyi in a statement said the operation followed investigations into the abduction of three persons at Ipojo Area, Iperin, Atan-Ijebu on the 11th of May, 2026.


Mr Babaseyi explained that victims were reportedly released unharmed on the 14th of May after an unspecified ransom was paid.

Following the victims’ release, police operatives intensified efforts to track down the gang responsible for the crime.




Acting on credible intelligence, the Anti-Kidnapping Squad stormed a suspected kidnappers’ hideout along the Ijebu-Ode/Ibadan Road axis in the early hours of Friday.

The suspects reportedly opened fire on the operatives, leading to a gun duel during which two of the suspected kidnappers were neutralized, while others escaped into the forest with gunshot injuries.

Police say further follow-up operations led to the arrest of the alleged kingpin, identified as Seriki Mohammed Abdullahi, and another suspect, Mohammed Bello.

Recovered items include one AK-47 rifle loaded with ten rounds of ammunition, a single-barrel gun, one-point-five million naira suspected to be ransom proceeds, several mobile phones and a black bag.

The Ogun State Police Command says efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang.
