Ogun State Clinches Second Position at NIP Conference

Ogun State has recorded another academic achievement as two students representing the state emerged second overall at the Physics Quiz Competition organized by the Nigerian Institute of Physics, NIP.

The competition was part of the 47th Annual Conference of the institute held at Lead City University on May 12, 2026.

The students, Omotayo Feyikemi of Muleruwa Community High School and Jimoh Sultan of The Crescent International School, competed against participants from different states across the country.

Their impressive performance secured second place for Ogun State, while Lagos State claimed the overall first position.

The conference, which began on May 11 and ends on May 15, is themed: “Smart Physics: A New Perspective for Technological Development.”

Speaking on the achievement, the National President of the Nigerian Institute of Physics, Professor Coker J. O., praised the Ogun State representatives for their outstanding performance, noting that the success reflects the state’s strong educational heritage.

Education stakeholders and members of the academic community have also commended the students for making Ogun State proud through hard work, brilliance, and dedication.

Ogun Opens Registration for 2027 Hajj Exercise

Aina Obasanjo  The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced registration for the 2027 Hajj exercise, calling on intending pilgrims to begin preparations for the pilgrimage. Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Taiwo Ajibola, made the announcement while speaking with journalists at the Board's office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.  Alhaji Ajibola said prospective pilgrims are required to make an initial deposit of eight million naira, pending the official Hajj fare to be announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria. He urged interested applicants to complete their payments early to secure a place for the pilgrimage, noting that the registration exercise is expected to close on or before September 2026. Alhaji Ajibola advised intending pilgrims to visit the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board at the New Secretariat, Block B, Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, or contact the Board through its official telephone lines for further enquiries.

  The Crescent Literary Village of Crescent University, Abeokuta, has celebrated the enduring legacies of the institution's late founder, Prince Bola Ajibola, for his remarkable contributions to education, law, arbitration, literature and humanity.
