Ogun Targets Global Tourism Spotlight with Ojude Oba




The Ogun State Government says the 2026 Ojude Oba Festival will serve as a major platform for tourism promotion, economic growth and cultural development in the state.

Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Sesan Fagbayi, disclosed this during the 2026 Ojude Oba Festival World Press Conference held at the Awujale Palace in Ijebu-Ode.

Hon. Fagbayi described the globally celebrated festival as a symbol of unity, pride and resilience among the people of Ijebuland, both at home and in the diaspora.

He said the state government plans to leverage the annual cultural event to attract international tourists, create economic opportunities and strengthen cultural diplomacy.

The Commissioner assured that the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun would continue to support the festival to ensure a vibrant and inclusive celebration.

He also highlighted tourist attractions across the state, including the Yemoji Natural Swimming Pool, Bilikisu Sungbo Tourist Centre, Orisagamu Ewa Shrine, Ogunde Historical Museum and Olumo Rock.

Hon. Fagbayi added that other festivals such as Lisabi, Oronna, Remo Day, Akesan, Iganmode and Agasapo-Hepo have continued to strengthen Ogun State’s reputation as a leading destination for heritage tourism in Nigeria.

He called on private investors and development partners to take advantage of opportunities in the state’s growing tourism and cultural sector.

The Commissioner also commended the Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council and the Council of Awujale Chiefs and Otunbas for sustaining the Ojude Oba Festival.
