President Tinubu Picks ICT Expert to Lead JAMB

 



President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB.

Aina, a 39-year-old Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, will take over from Professor Ishaq Oloyede whose tenure ends on July 31, 2026.

The appointment was announced in a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to the Presidency, Aina was selected because of his strong background in digital infrastructure, examination systems, and institutional reforms.

He is expected to strengthen transparency, efficiency, and credibility in Nigeria’s tertiary admission process.

Professor Aina holds degrees from the University of Kent and Loughborough University, with specialisations in Internet Computing, Network Security, and Digital Signal Processing.

The Presidency says the incoming registrar has over 15 years of experience advising government agencies on digital transition and examination integrity.

President Tinubu expressed confidence that Aina would build on ongoing reforms at JAMB and improve the use of technology in public examinations across the country.
