The Federal Government has taken another step towards improving education management in Nigeria with the deployment of Interactive Smart Board Devices to Ogun State.

The devices, presented by the Federal Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission, are designed to support the collection of accurate school data and strengthen monitoring across the education sector.

Speaking during the handover in Abeokuta, Chairman of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board, Evangelist Ifede Olalekan, described the initiative as a major boost for digital education administration.

Evangelist Ifede said the smart boards would make data collection easier and more efficient, enabling government at all levels to make informed decisions for the development of schools.

Also receiving the equipment, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Abayomi Arigbabu, noted that reliable and real-time data is essential for effective planning, resource allocation, and ensuring the safety of learners.

He added that quality data remains the foundation of a functional education system.

Officials of the Universal Basic Education Commission and the Federal Ministry of Education explained that the devices will support the Annual School Census through the Digital National Education Management Information System, known as DNEMIS.

According to them, the technology will enable better monitoring of schools nationwide, improve transparency, enhance data accuracy, and support evidence-based policies aimed at improving educational outcomes.

The initiative forms part of the Federal Government's broader drive to digitize education management and build a more responsive and efficient basic education system across the country.
