FG, UBEC, Ogun SUBEB Train Officers for National Learning Assessment

The Federal Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC, and the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, has trained education officers ahead of the National Learning Assessment in public primary and secondary schools across Ogun State.


The training, held at the Nigeria Union of Teachers Hall in Kuto, Abeokuta, was  aimed at preparing officials for the nationwide assessment of learners' performance in line with the national curriculum.


Speaking at the programme, the Chairman of Ogun SUBEB, Evangelist Olalekan Ifede, represented by the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Mrs. Oluseyi Oke, said the exercise was strictly for data collection. 

Evangelist Ifede urged the participants to carry out their assignments professionally to ensure a smooth and credible assessment in schools across the state.





Also speaking, the South-West Zonal Director of UBEC, Mrs. Beatrice Okei, described the National Learning Assessment as a nationwide exercise that would provide government with reliable data to identify areas requiring improvement in the education sector.

 She added that all necessary assessment materials would be provided and commended development partners, including UNICEF and the World Bank, for supporting the programme.


The Director of Planning, Research and Statistics in the Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Wasiu Adewale, said the initiative would determine how effectively learners were acquiring knowledge based on the national curriculum. 

He called on participants to uphold professionalism throughout the exercise.

A Technical Officer with UBEC, Mr. Josu Noah, explained that pupils would be assessed in English Language, Mathematics, Science and Citizenship, urging education officers to adequately brief headteachers and principals of selected schools before the exercise.


Responding on behalf of participants, Mr. Oluyemi Egunleti assured the government of a fair, transparent and unbiased assessment process.

Ogun Opens Registration for 2027 Hajj Exercise

Aina Obasanjo  The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced registration for the 2027 Hajj exercise, calling on intending pilgrims to begin preparations for the pilgrimage. Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Taiwo Ajibola, made the announcement while speaking with journalists at the Board's office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.  Alhaji Ajibola said prospective pilgrims are required to make an initial deposit of eight million naira, pending the official Hajj fare to be announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria. He urged interested applicants to complete their payments early to secure a place for the pilgrimage, noting that the registration exercise is expected to close on or before September 2026. Alhaji Ajibola advised intending pilgrims to visit the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board at the New Secretariat, Block B, Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, or contact the Board through its official telephone lines for further enquiries.
