MAPOLY Enforces Zero-Tolerance Policy, Expels 365 Students

The Management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY, Abeokuta has expelled three hundred and sixty-five students for securing admission into its Higher National Diploma programmes with falsified academic credentials.

The institution says the affected students gained admission by presenting fake National Diploma results and forged academic transcripts from various tertiary institutions.

According to the Polytechnic's Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Yemi Ajibola, the decision followed a comprehensive verification exercise conducted on credentials submitted during admission and registration.

The exercise reportedly uncovered widespread irregularities in academic records, prompting the management to take disciplinary action in line with the institution's zero-tolerance policy on fraud, forgery and other forms of academic misconduct.

Reacting to the development, the Rector, Dr. Koye Jolaoso, warned prospective applicants against using fake credentials to gain admission, stressing that the action underscores the Polytechnic's commitment to academic integrity, transparency, excellence and professionalism.

He added that the institution would continue to verify academic records and sanction anyone found to be involved in fraudulent admission practices.

A breakdown of the affected students shows that one hundred and fifty-six were from the School of Communication and Information Technology, one hundred and seventeen from the School of Business and Management Studies, fifty-four from the School of Science and Technology, thirty-six from the School of Engineering, and two from the School of Environmental Studies.
