No Cause for Panic, Ogun Police Assure Public After Sagamu–Benin Expressway Incident
The Ogun State Police Command has intensified security operations along the Sagamu–Benin Expressway following a reported security incident around the J3 axis of the highway on Thursday, June 25, 2026.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Oluseyi Babaseyi in a statement in Abeokuta said operatives of the command responded promptly after receiving a distress call and immediately activated a coordinated security operation to restore normalcy and ensure public safety.
Acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Mr Bode Ojajuni, tactical assets were deployed to the affected area, including four units of the Police Mobile Force , operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, and other specialized teams.
Mr Babaseyi disclosed that an intensive bush-combing operation is currently underway, with security personnel making significant progress in tracking the fleeing suspects while maintaining a strong presence across the corridor to safeguard commuters and residents.
He assured members of the public that adequate security measures have been put in place and urged motorists and residents to remain calm, stressing that there is no cause for panic.
