Ogun Police Launch Statewide Enforcement Against Unregistered Vehicles

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Mr Bode Ojajuni, says the State Police Command has commenced a statewide enforcement exercise against vehicles operating with covered, obscured, defaced, concealed, unauthorised, fake, or no registration number plates.


According to the Police Commissioner, the exercise is in compliance with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police and is aimed at strengthening security, enhancing public safety, and preventing criminals from using unidentifiable vehicles to carry out unlawful activities.


Mr Ojajuni disclosed that all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Team Commanders have been directed to impound offending vehicles and conduct thorough investigations in line with existing laws. 


He added that the enforcement also targets vehicles displaying altered, improperly issued, or otherwise unauthorised number plates.

The Commissioner noted that only vehicles officially entitled to display flags under established protocols are exempted from the directive.

He therefore advised motorists, transport operators, fleet owners, and other road users to ensure that their vehicles carry valid, duly issued, and clearly visible registration number plates at all times.

Mr Ojajuni stressed that the exercise is not intended to inconvenience law-abiding citizens but to improve the capacity of security agencies to identify vehicles, investigate crimes, track suspects, and strengthen the overall security architecture of Ogun State.

The Police Commissioner also assured residents that officers deployed for the operation have been directed to act professionally, courteously, and within the confines of the law, while urging members of the public to continue supporting the Police with credible and timely information.
