Ogun Residents Commend Abiodun on Rural Road Infrastructure

Residents of Ogun Waterside Local Government Area have commended Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for the reconstruction and commissioning of the Gao Junction–Ibi-Ade Road.

The residents say the road, which had been in a deplorable condition for several years, will improve transportation, ease the movement of agricultural produce, reduce travel time and vehicle maintenance costs, as well as boost economic activities in the area.

Speaking at the commissioning, the Ojotumoro of Abigi, Oba Segun Ogunye, described the project as the fulfilment of a long-standing aspiration of the people. 


He praised Governor Abiodun for addressing the infrastructure needs of the community and pledged the continued support of traditional institutions for government development initiatives.

A community leader, Chief Semiu Ajakaye, said the project represents renewed hope for the people and has restored public confidence in government.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Ogun State, Alhaji Mustapha Adewale, noted that the road would improve safety, reduce travel time and lower vehicle maintenance costs for transport operators.

Farmers in the Ibi-Ade axis, represented by Mr. Akilabi Abayomi and Mrs. Risikat Adekunle, said the road would facilitate the movement of farm produce to markets, reduce post-harvest losses and improve their incomes.

A trader, Mrs. Bose Adewale, expressed optimism that the road would attract investment, create jobs and stimulate business growth in the area.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engineer Ade Akinsanya, said the road was constructed with modern engineering features, including reinforced drainage systems, box culverts, kerbs and lane markings, to ensure durability and safety.

He added that the project forms part of the present administration's infrastructure renewal programme, under which nearly two thousand kilometres of roads have been constructed, reconstructed or rehabilitated across Ogun State.
