Ogun SUBEB, UBEC distribute learning materials, sports equipment to out-of-school children.

The Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC, has distributed teaching and learning materials as well as sports equipment to out-of-school children in public primary schools across the state.

Speaking during the distribution ceremony held at the Nigeria Union of Teachers Hall in Kuto, Abeokuta, Chairman of SUBEB, Evangelist Olalekan Ifede, said the intervention was designed to enhance classroom teaching and improve learning outcomes among pupils.



According to him, the materials were procured through the Federal Government and Universal Basic Education intervention funds to address the challenges facing out-of-school children in Ogun State.

Evangelist Ifede noted that the sports equipment would also promote physical fitness, discipline, teamwork, resilience and healthy competition among learners, while strengthening collaboration between the state government and UBEC.


Also speaking, Permanent Member One of SUBEB, Barrister Femi Odufowokan, said Ogun State had recorded remarkable progress in the education sector under the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun, appreciating UBEC for its continued support.

In a message delivered on her behalf by the Southwest Zonal Director, Mrs Okei Beatrice, the Executive Secretary of UBEC, Dr Aisha Garba, said the intervention aligns with President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, which recognises education as a critical driver of national development.

She added that similar interventions across the country, including the distribution of school bags, sandals, sports equipment and writing materials, were aimed at increasing school enrolment and reducing the number of out-of-school children.

Other stakeholders in the education sector commended the initiative and called for sustained collaboration to further strengthen basic education in the state.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Rasheed Oluwadamilare of the School of Children with Special Needs, Ilaro, thanked the Federal and State Governments for the gesture and pledged that the materials would be put to good use.
