Over 200 schools register for maiden RIYE U-15 Athletics Circuit in Ogun.

More than 200 schools across Ogun State have indicated interest in participating in the maiden edition of the RIYE Under-15 Athletics Circuit, an initiative aimed at discovering and developing young athletics talents.
Speaking at a press conference in Abeokuta, the initiator of the competition, Hon. Tunde Delu, said the championship was designed as a long-term platform for identifying future champions and strengthening grassroots sports development in the state.
Hon. Delu noted that Ogun State has a rich history of producing world-class athletes and expressed confidence that the competition would help uncover the next generation of stars.
He announced that the championship will feature athletes from the Remo, Ijebu, Yewa and Egba zones, competing in events including the 100, 200, 400 and 800 metres, long jump, high jump and relay races.
Hon Delu noted that competition will begin with the Egba zonal qualifiers on Monday, June 15 at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta, while the grand finale is scheduled for June 26.
Athletes Coordinator, Coach Abayomi Asipa, assured stakeholders that adequate arrangements have been made for the welfare, security and safety of participants, adding that measures are also in place to prevent age cheating and ensure a credible championship.
