POCACOV Strengthens Anti-Cultism Awareness in Ogun Schools



The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices, POCACOV, Ogun State Command, has intensified its campaign against cultism, substance abuse, and other social vices through a youth leadership summit held in Ifo, Ogun State.

The programme, organised in partnership with The Global Citizens NG, brought together nearly 180 senior secondary school students from six schools, alongside parents, teachers, and other stakeholders.

Speaking at the event, the Coordinator of POCACOV in Ogun State, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Oluborode Opeyemi, urged students to embrace self-discipline and responsible leadership. 




He warned that poor personal choices could expose young people to cultism, drug abuse, and criminal gangs.

The summit, themed "Personal Leadership and its Role in Building a Safe and Secure Society," also featured presentations by leadership expert, Dr. Julius Osimen, mental health advocate, Mrs. Florence Freddy, and scholar, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, who spoke on leadership, mental resilience, and character development.

Participants also engaged in an interactive session, while parents and teachers were encouraged to identify and support students showing signs of negative behavioural tendencies.

The event ended with students taking a pledge to reject cultism, substance abuse, and other criminal activities, while committing to promote positive values and peaceful coexistence in their schools and communities.
