PSN Ogun Flags Off 2026 Pharmacy Week with Community Medical Outreach

The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Ogun State Branch, has commenced its 2026 Annual Pharmacy Week with a free medical outreach for residents of Lukosi Community in Abeokuta.

The outreach, held at the PSN Ogun State Secretariat, provided free medical consultations, screenings for malaria, typhoid, hepatitis, HIV/AIDS, blood pressure and blood sugar levels, as well as medication counselling and health education.

Speaking with Journalists, Chairman of the Society in Ogun State, Pharm. Oyesunlola Okunuga, said the programme was organised to improve access to healthcare and give back to the community. 

She noted that the Society was fully prepared to cater for more than one hundred beneficiaries expected at the outreach.

The Chairman of the Pharmacy Week Planning Committee, Pharm. Ogunbe Olumide, described the initiative as a new approach aimed at bringing healthcare services directly to community residents.

 He added that this year's activities also include family planning sensitisation and environmental sustainability programmes.

The 2026 Pharmacy Week is themed: “A New Era in Pharmacy: Performance-Driven Workforce Development for Health System Transformation in Ogun State.”

The official opening ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library Marquee in Abeokuta. 

The event is expected to attract stakeholders from government, academia, traditional institutions and the healthcare sector.

Activities lined up for the week include scientific sessions, community health advocacy programmes, professional recognition awards and the Society’s Annual General Meeting.
