Crescent University Proprietor inducted into Abeokuta Polo Club.

The Proprietor and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Crescent University, Abeokuta, Prince Ma'ruf Adesegun Ajibola has been inducted as a pioneer member of the Abeokuta Polo Club.

Prince Ajibola was decorated alongside nine other new members by the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Aremu Gbadebo, during the club's first anniversary and members' induction ceremony held at the Park Inn by Radisson in Abeokuta.

Speaking at the event, the Founder and President of the Abeokuta Polo Club, Dr. Sheriff Adams Abdulrahman, said the club is committed to promoting excellence, integrity, friendship and equestrian heritage. 



Dr Abdulrahman added that the club aims to promote the sport of polo while contributing to the socio-economic development of Ogun State.

He also disclosed that the club has trained one hundred and twenty beneficiaries in digital technology and artificial intelligence, with plans to create more employment opportunities for young people.

In his remarks, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Saka Matemilola, described the Abeokuta Polo Club as a premium institution that will enhance the prestige and image of Abeokuta, Ogun State and Nigeria.

The event also featured the presentation of special recognition awards to the wife of former Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun, and the Ogun State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Oluwasesan Fagbayi.

Prince Ma'ruf Adesegun Ajibola attended the ceremony with members of the Crescent University management, including the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibraheem Gbajabiamila, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Rasaki Kareem, Registrar, Prince Zakariyya Ajibola, Bursar, Alhaji Gbadebo Ogunmefun, and Principal Assistant Registrar, Public Relations, Mr. Idris Katib.

Ogun Opens Registration for 2027 Hajj Exercise

Aina Obasanjo  The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced registration for the 2027 Hajj exercise, calling on intending pilgrims to begin preparations for the pilgrimage. Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Taiwo Ajibola, made the announcement while speaking with journalists at the Board's office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.  Alhaji Ajibola said prospective pilgrims are required to make an initial deposit of eight million naira, pending the official Hajj fare to be announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria. He urged interested applicants to complete their payments early to secure a place for the pilgrimage, noting that the registration exercise is expected to close on or before September 2026. Alhaji Ajibola advised intending pilgrims to visit the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board at the New Secretariat, Block B, Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, or contact the Board through its official telephone lines for further enquiries.

  The Crescent Literary Village of Crescent University, Abeokuta, has celebrated the enduring legacies of the institution's late founder, Prince Bola Ajibola, for his remarkable contributions to education, law, arbitration, literature and humanity. The tribute came during Literary Day 2026 with the theme, "Celebrating the Enduring Literary Legacies of Prince Bola Ajibola."
