Culture Ministry Partners NIPR to Showcase Ogun at Global Summit

The Ogun State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting the state's rich cultural heritage and tourism through strategic partnerships.

Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Oluwasesan Fagbayi, gave the assurance while receiving members of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations, Ogun State Chapter, led by its Chairperson, Mrs. Oluwaseun Boye, during an advocacy visit ahead of the 2026 World Public Relations Summit.

Hon. Fagbayi commended the Institute for its role in strategic communication and cultural promotion, promising the Ministry's continued collaboration to showcase Ogun State's cultural heritage on the global stage.


 He added that the Ministry would provide advisory support and facilitate necessary guidance to ensure successful planning and implementation of related programmes.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr. Quudus Yusuff, described the World Public Relations Summit as a valuable platform to project Ogun State's tourism attractions and cultural identity to an international audience.

Earlier, Mrs. Boye had said that the visit was part of a statewide awareness campaign to mobilise stakeholders ahead of the World Public Relations Summit, scheduled for November 15th to 21st, 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja.

She appealed to the Ministry to establish an Ogun State Tourism and Adire Pavilion at the summit to showcase the state's tourism destinations, cultural festivals, indigenous arts and authentic Adire. 

Mrs Boye also sought the Ministry's support for Owanbe Season Two, the Chapter's annual cultural and networking event, scheduled for November 6th in Abeokuta.

She noted that both initiatives would further position Ogun State as a leading destination for culture, tourism and strategic communication.

Ogun Opens Registration for 2027 Hajj Exercise

Aina Obasanjo  The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced registration for the 2027 Hajj exercise, calling on intending pilgrims to begin preparations for the pilgrimage. Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Taiwo Ajibola, made the announcement while speaking with journalists at the Board's office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.  Alhaji Ajibola said prospective pilgrims are required to make an initial deposit of eight million naira, pending the official Hajj fare to be announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria. He urged interested applicants to complete their payments early to secure a place for the pilgrimage, noting that the registration exercise is expected to close on or before September 2026. Alhaji Ajibola advised intending pilgrims to visit the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board at the New Secretariat, Block B, Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, or contact the Board through its official telephone lines for further enquiries.
