Dele Olaleye Mourns Former Ogun Speaker Emmanuel Soyemi Coker

The Peoples Democratic Party House of Representatives candidate for Abeokuta North, Obafemi Owode and Odeda Federal Constituency, Arc. Dele Olaleye, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Soyemi Coker.


In a condolence message, Arc. Olaleye described the late Coker as an experienced statesman who dedicated his life to public service, democratic governance and the development of Ogun State. 


He noted that the former Speaker also served as Chairman of Odeda Local Government and contested for the House of Representatives, leaving behind a legacy of commitment and leadership.


Arc. Olaleye said the late politician was more than a political leader to him, describing him as an elder brother through their shared family heritage.


 He added that he benefitted greatly from Coker's wise counsel, encouragement and wealth of experience, making his death a personal loss.

The PDP chieftain said the late Emmanuel Soyemi Coker's contributions to the political growth of Ogun State and the development of Abeokuta North, Obafemi Owode and Odeda Federal Constituency would remain a source of inspiration for future generations.

He extended condolences to the family of the deceased, his political associates, the people of Odeda Local Government and residents of the federal constituency, praying that God grants the late statesman eternal rest and gives his loved ones the strength to bear the loss.

Ogun Opens Registration for 2027 Hajj Exercise

Aina Obasanjo  The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced registration for the 2027 Hajj exercise, calling on intending pilgrims to begin preparations for the pilgrimage. Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Taiwo Ajibola, made the announcement while speaking with journalists at the Board's office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.  Alhaji Ajibola said prospective pilgrims are required to make an initial deposit of eight million naira, pending the official Hajj fare to be announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria. He urged interested applicants to complete their payments early to secure a place for the pilgrimage, noting that the registration exercise is expected to close on or before September 2026. Alhaji Ajibola advised intending pilgrims to visit the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board at the New Secretariat, Block B, Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, or contact the Board through its official telephone lines for further enquiries.
