Hon Fagbayi Calls for Compliance with Hotel Registration Rules

The Ogun State Government has warned hotel owners and operators of allied hospitality businesses against commencing operations without first registering with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Sesan Fagbayi, gave the warning while receiving the management of Bisdot Royal Suite during a courtesy visit to his office at Oke-Mosan in Abeokuta.


The Commissioner noted that early registration would strengthen collaboration between the government and hospitality operators, promotes professionalism, and positions registered businesses to benefit from government opportunities and recommendations.


He urged intending hotel owners, bar operators, and other tourism-related businesses to comply with the registration requirement before opening for business, warning that defaulters would face sanctions.


Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr. Quudus Yusuff, described it as illegal for hospitality businesses to commence operations without registration. He also advised existing operators due for licence renewal or upgrade to complete the process promptly.

Responding on behalf of Bisdot Royal Suite, the Manager, Mr. Austine Jahjioje, said the visit was to formally introduce the establishment, showcase its unique cuisine, and seek the Ministry's support.

 He assured the government that the hotel would begin its registration process without delay.

Ogun Opens Registration for 2027 Hajj Exercise

Aina Obasanjo  The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced registration for the 2027 Hajj exercise, calling on intending pilgrims to begin preparations for the pilgrimage. Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Taiwo Ajibola, made the announcement while speaking with journalists at the Board's office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.  Alhaji Ajibola said prospective pilgrims are required to make an initial deposit of eight million naira, pending the official Hajj fare to be announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria. He urged interested applicants to complete their payments early to secure a place for the pilgrimage, noting that the registration exercise is expected to close on or before September 2026. Alhaji Ajibola advised intending pilgrims to visit the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board at the New Secretariat, Block B, Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, or contact the Board through its official telephone lines for further enquiries.
