OGEPA Intensifies Industrial Compliance Monitoring with Surprise Factory Inspection





The Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency, OGEPA, has intensified efforts to enforce environmental compliance among industries with an unscheduled inspection of Metal Recycling Industries Limited in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area.

The General Manager of the Agency, Hon. Kehinde Bello, who led the enforcement team on the inspection, said the exercise was part of OGEPA's commitment to ensuring industries comply with environmental laws aimed at protecting public health and the environment.

During the visit, the team assessed the company's pollution control systems, waste management practices, air emission control measures and other environmental management processes to determine compliance with approved environmental standards.

Hon. Bello said routine and surprise inspections remain critical to the Agency's enforcement strategy, stressing that all industries operating in Ogun State must obtain the required environmental permits and adopt effective pollution prevention measures to minimise the impact of their operations on neighbouring communities.

He urged the management of the company to sustain environmental best practices, address areas requiring improvement and continue to cooperate with OGEPA in promoting a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable environment.

The inspection, according to the Agency, underscores the Ogun State Government's resolve to ensure industrial development goes hand in hand with environmental protection and compliance with existing regulations.

Ogun Opens Registration for 2027 Hajj Exercise

Aina Obasanjo  The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced registration for the 2027 Hajj exercise, calling on intending pilgrims to begin preparations for the pilgrimage. Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Taiwo Ajibola, made the announcement while speaking with journalists at the Board's office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.  Alhaji Ajibola said prospective pilgrims are required to make an initial deposit of eight million naira, pending the official Hajj fare to be announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria. He urged interested applicants to complete their payments early to secure a place for the pilgrimage, noting that the registration exercise is expected to close on or before September 2026. Alhaji Ajibola advised intending pilgrims to visit the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board at the New Secretariat, Block B, Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, or contact the Board through its official telephone lines for further enquiries.
