OGUN ATTRACTS 250 MILLION DOLLAR INVESTMENT FOR NIGERIA’S LARGEST DAIRY FARM

Ogun State has secured a 250 million dollar investment for the establishment of what is expected to become Nigeria’s largest dairy farm.
The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Bolu Owotomo, disclosed this during a community engagement meeting between the investors, Pure Dairy Herd, and residents of Itoro in Yewa South Local Government Area.
He said the project, located in Itoro, will begin with about ten thousand dairy cows and is expected to significantly increase domestic milk production, create employment opportunities, stimulate economic activities and strengthen Nigeria’s livestock and dairy value chain.
The Commissioner attributed the investment to the investor-friendly policies of the Ogun State Government under Governor Dapo Abiodun, adding that the state continues to attract major agricultural investments across different locations.
According to him, the investors have also undertaken to carry out palliative repairs on roads leading to the project site to improve access and facilitate the commencement of operations.
Addressing concerns by members of the host community, Mr. Owotomo assured affected landowners that compensation would be paid in line with extant laws, while the state government would also resolve pending legal issues relating to the land.
He added that the project would bring lasting socio-economic benefits to the community through job creation, infrastructure development and increased commercial activities.
The Onitoro of Itoro, Oba Nathaniel Fasina, commended the state government for attracting the investment and appealed for adequate employment opportunities and sustainable community development for residents.
The traditional ruler also pledged the support of the people of Itoro towards the successful implementation of the project.
Speaking on behalf of the investors, Head of Liaison for Pure Dairy Herd, Alhaji Jamiu Adeleke, said the investment is aimed at transforming Itoro into a major dairy production hub, in line with the Federal Government’s industrialisation and economic diversification agenda.
