Ogun Government Seeks Unified Voice for Traditional Worshippers

The Ogun State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Sesan Fagbayi, has called on Isese worshippers to remain united and promote peaceful coexistence to strengthen their relationship with the state government.

Hon. Fagbayi made the call during a meeting with traditional worshippers from the four divisions of Ogun State held at Oke-Mosan in Abeokuta.


 He said government recognition would be more effective if traditional worshippers speak with one voice rather than as separate groups.

The Commissioner praised the successful conduct of the 2025 combined Isese Day celebration and expressed optimism that this year's event would be more colourful and inclusive.

He also said Governor Dapo Abiodun appreciates the prayers and traditional rites offered by worshippers for the peace and security of the state, urging them to continue supporting the government and traditional rulers in promoting development.

Also speaking, the Director of Culture, Mr. Femi Osanyinpeju, explained that the meeting was part of preparations for the 2026 Isese Day celebration, which is expected to bring together traditional worshippers from across the state's four divisions.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Onifa Yewa/Awori, Chief Adebayo Adimula, thanked the Ogun State Government for its continued support, saying the administration's commitment has encouraged efforts to preserve the state's cultural heritage and traditions.

Ogun Opens Registration for 2027 Hajj Exercise

Aina Obasanjo  The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced registration for the 2027 Hajj exercise, calling on intending pilgrims to begin preparations for the pilgrimage. Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Taiwo Ajibola, made the announcement while speaking with journalists at the Board's office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.  Alhaji Ajibola said prospective pilgrims are required to make an initial deposit of eight million naira, pending the official Hajj fare to be announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria. He urged interested applicants to complete their payments early to secure a place for the pilgrimage, noting that the registration exercise is expected to close on or before September 2026. Alhaji Ajibola advised intending pilgrims to visit the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board at the New Secretariat, Block B, Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, or contact the Board through its official telephone lines for further enquiries.
