Ogun Police Kill Two Suspected Kidnappers, rescue Okun Owa Prince

Ogun State Police Command says it has neutralised two suspected kidnappers and recovered an AK-47 rifle, mobile phones and other exhibits in connection with the abduction of the Prince of Okun Owa, Prince Idris.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Oluseyi Babaseyi in a statement in Abeokuta, said the prince was kidnapped at his residence in Okun Owa in Odogbolu local government area of the state on June 30, 2026, at about half past seven in the evening.

Mr Babaseyi noted that the Commissioner of Police immediately deployed the Anti-Kidnapping Unit alongside other tactical teams to rescue the victim and track down those responsible.

He said that the Prince was rescued unharmed on the 3rd of June with a sustained intelligence-led operations and coordinated approach in Agoro/Imodi axis area of the state.

According to the Mr Babaseyi, the suspects opened fire on the operatives, who responded, leading to the death of two of the suspected kidnappers, while others reportedly escaped with gunshot wounds.

He listed items recovered from the suspects to include an AK-47 rifle with an empty magazine, two mobile phones, a bag suspected to have been used for ransom collection and other incriminating exhibits.

Ogun Opens Registration for 2027 Hajj Exercise

Aina Obasanjo  The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced registration for the 2027 Hajj exercise, calling on intending pilgrims to begin preparations for the pilgrimage. Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Taiwo Ajibola, made the announcement while speaking with journalists at the Board's office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.  Alhaji Ajibola said prospective pilgrims are required to make an initial deposit of eight million naira, pending the official Hajj fare to be announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria. He urged interested applicants to complete their payments early to secure a place for the pilgrimage, noting that the registration exercise is expected to close on or before September 2026. Alhaji Ajibola advised intending pilgrims to visit the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board at the New Secretariat, Block B, Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, or contact the Board through its official telephone lines for further enquiries.
