Ogun Police Strengthen Border Security Partnership with Customs

 




The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Mr Bode Ojajuni has reaffirmed the Command's commitment to strengthening collaboration with security agencies to enhance safety along Ogun State's international border corridors.


Mr Ojajuni gave the assurance during a familiarization visit to the Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun One Area Command, Idiroko, where he was received by the Acting Customs Area Controller and Chairman of the Joint Border Security Committee, Deputy Controller Oladapo Olukayode Afeni.


The visit also brought together representatives of the Nigeria Immigration Service, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, the Federal Road Safety Corps, the Nigeria Forest Guards, the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service, the So-Safe Corps, Port Health Services, and the Inter-Border Security Formation.


Addressing the gathering, Mr Ojajuni commended the existing cooperation among security agencies in the border corridor, describing it as a model worthy of emulation. 


He stressed that intelligence sharing, joint operations, and sustained collaboration remain essential in tackling emerging security threats and pledged the continued support of the Ogun State Police Command.



In his remarks, the Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Controller Oladapo Olukayode Afeni, described the visit as timely and significant, saying it would further strengthen the longstanding partnership among security agencies operating along the border. 


He also praised the Commissioner for his leadership and reaffirmed the commitment of the Joint Border Security Committee to maintaining a secure and peaceful border environment.


In their separate remarks, members of the Joint Border Security Committee, pledged to sustain intelligence sharing and coordinated operations in the interest of national security.

Ogun Opens Registration for 2027 Hajj Exercise

Aina Obasanjo  The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced registration for the 2027 Hajj exercise, calling on intending pilgrims to begin preparations for the pilgrimage. Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Taiwo Ajibola, made the announcement while speaking with journalists at the Board's office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.  Alhaji Ajibola said prospective pilgrims are required to make an initial deposit of eight million naira, pending the official Hajj fare to be announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria. He urged interested applicants to complete their payments early to secure a place for the pilgrimage, noting that the registration exercise is expected to close on or before September 2026. Alhaji Ajibola advised intending pilgrims to visit the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board at the New Secretariat, Block B, Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, or contact the Board through its official telephone lines for further enquiries.
