Ogun SUBEB monitors unified examinations across public primary schools

The Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, has begun monitoring the 2025/2026 Third Term Unified Examinations in public primary schools across the state.

The Executive Chairman of the Board, Evangelist Olalekan Ifede, who led one of the monitoring teams, said the exercise is aimed at ensuring the examinations are conducted in a credible, orderly and transparent manner.

Evangelist Ifede expressed satisfaction with the level of preparedness of schools, teachers and pupils, noting that reports from other monitoring teams indicated that the examinations were progressing smoothly across the state.





During the visits, the SUBEB Chairman also inspected school facilities, verified enrolment records and commended headteachers for maintaining clean and conducive learning environments. 


He confirmed that examination materials were delivered on time and were adequate in all the schools visited.

The Chairman urged headteachers and teachers to use the long vacation to improve their professional skills, especially in phonics instruction. 


He reiterated that phonics remains the approved teaching method for pupils in Kindergarten to Primary Two.

Evangelist Ifede also directed headteachers to remain on their school premises throughout the examination period, maintain accurate enrolment records and contact parents or guardians of absent pupils to ensure they participate in subsequent examination sessions.

Speaking on behalf of their schools, the Headteachers of St. James United Primary School, Mobalufon, Odogbolu, Local Government Primary School Two, Sabo, Sagamu, and AUD Primary School, Ikenne, commended the Board for the monitoring exercise. 

They confirmed that examination materials arrived on schedule and described the examinations as peaceful and hitch-free.

Schools visited included St. James United Primary School, Mobalufon, Odogbolu; Baptist Day Primary School, Ereko, Ijebu-Ode; St. Augustine Catholic Primary Schools One and Two, Ijebu-Ode; AUD Primary School, Ikenne; and Local Government Primary Schools One, Two and Three, Sabo, Sagamu.

Ogun Opens Registration for 2027 Hajj Exercise

Aina Obasanjo  The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced registration for the 2027 Hajj exercise, calling on intending pilgrims to begin preparations for the pilgrimage. Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Taiwo Ajibola, made the announcement while speaking with journalists at the Board's office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.  Alhaji Ajibola said prospective pilgrims are required to make an initial deposit of eight million naira, pending the official Hajj fare to be announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria. He urged interested applicants to complete their payments early to secure a place for the pilgrimage, noting that the registration exercise is expected to close on or before September 2026. Alhaji Ajibola advised intending pilgrims to visit the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board at the New Secretariat, Block B, Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, or contact the Board through its official telephone lines for further enquiries.
