Adebutu Congratulates Alake on Emergence as Ogun Council of Obas Chairman

The 2027 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ogun State, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, has congratulated the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Michael Adedotun Gbadebo, on his emergence as Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas.

In a statement by his media aide, Afolabi Orekoya, Adebutu described the development as significant for the traditional institution in the state.

He said the position places on the Alake the responsibility of providing leadership and fostering cooperation among traditional rulers across Ogun State.

Hon. Adebutu noted that the Alake's emergence underscored the importance of traditional institutions in preserving cultural values and promoting peace and unity in society.

He expressed confidence that the monarch's experience and understanding of the people would enable him to provide effective leadership for the Council of Obas and strengthen its role in the affairs of the state.

The PDP governorship candidate said the new responsibility would also provide an opportunity for the Alake to further promote the values of wisdom, culture and responsible leadership associated with the throne of Egbaland.

Hon. Adebutu wished the monarch a successful tenure and prayed for continued good health, wisdom and strength to discharge his responsibilities.

He expressed hope that the Alake's leadership of the Council would contribute to peace, unity and progress in Ogun State.

Ogun Opens Registration for 2027 Hajj Exercise

Aina Obasanjo  The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced registration for the 2027 Hajj exercise, calling on intending pilgrims to begin preparations for the pilgrimage. Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Taiwo Ajibola, made the announcement while speaking with journalists at the Board's office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.  Alhaji Ajibola said prospective pilgrims are required to make an initial deposit of eight million naira, pending the official Hajj fare to be announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria. He urged interested applicants to complete their payments early to secure a place for the pilgrimage, noting that the registration exercise is expected to close on or before September 2026. Alhaji Ajibola advised intending pilgrims to visit the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board at the New Secretariat, Block B, Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, or contact the Board through its official telephone lines for further enquiries.
