Education: Hon. Afuape Promises More Interventions in Abeokuta South Schools.

 






The lawmaker representing Abeokuta South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Afolabi Moruf Afuape, has reaffirmed his commitment to education, describing it as the foundation for individual and national development.



Hon. Afuape stated this while inspecting participants in his 2026 free summer coaching programme at St. Peter Primary School, Ake, Abeokuta.



The programme, organised under the Afolabi Moruf Afuape Education Support Initiative, is also taking place at Nawairudeen High School, Isabo.

Students from several schools, including Egba High School, Faith Heritage and Al-Hudah Model College, are benefiting from lessons in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Physics and Government.



The lawmaker said his interest in education predated his entry into politics, stressing that education had played a major role in his own rise and achievements.



He urged the students to take their studies seriously, assuring them that academic excellence could provide access to greater opportunities.



Hon. Afuape also announced prizes for students who emerged first, second and third in their recently concluded examinations.



He further pledged to support SS3 students who pass their O’Level and JAMB examinations, urging beneficiaries to submit their results to his constituency office for possible further assistance.



The lawmaker said his education intervention goes beyond academic coaching to include infrastructure and technology.



He listed the provision of computers and construction of classroom blocks in various schools and communities within the constituency as some of his interventions.



Hon. Afuape, who joined the students during an Economics lesson, taught them the concepts of firms and industries and interacted with them on factors influencing their operations.



He said the interventions were aimed at improving the learning environment and enhancing students’ academic performance.



The lawmaker pledged to sustain the education-focused projects, saying more plans were in place to strengthen the sector in Abeokuta South.



He maintained that the ultimate goal was to produce better-educated young people who would contribute meaningfully to the development of society.

Ogun Opens Registration for 2027 Hajj Exercise

Aina Obasanjo  The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced registration for the 2027 Hajj exercise, calling on intending pilgrims to begin preparations for the pilgrimage. Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Taiwo Ajibola, made the announcement while speaking with journalists at the Board's office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.  Alhaji Ajibola said prospective pilgrims are required to make an initial deposit of eight million naira, pending the official Hajj fare to be announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria. He urged interested applicants to complete their payments early to secure a place for the pilgrimage, noting that the registration exercise is expected to close on or before September 2026. Alhaji Ajibola advised intending pilgrims to visit the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board at the New Secretariat, Block B, Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, or contact the Board through its official telephone lines for further enquiries.
