International Youth Day: PDP Reps Candidate Olaleye Celebrates Youths, Promises Inclusive Representation

Arc. Oladele AbdulQuadri Olaleye, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Candidate for the House of Representatives, representing the Abeokuta North, Odeda and Obafemi Owode Federal Constituency, has described the youth as the driving force of societal transformation and the foundation upon which the future of Nigeria must be built.


In a statement in Abeokuta, Arc. Olaleye congratulated the young people across the constituency, Ogun State, Nigeria, and beyond as the world commemorates World Youth Day 2026.



He noted that the energy, creativity, intelligence and resilience of young Nigerians remain critical to addressing the nation's developmental challenges, stressing that government at all levels must move beyond rhetoric and create practical opportunities that enable young people to thrive.


“Our young people are not merely leaders of tomorrow; they are important stakeholders and leaders of today. Their ideas, talents and aspirations must have a place in our legislative priorities and development agenda,” Arc. Olaleye said.


The PDP candidate reaffirmed his commitment to making youth empowerment and development a central pillar of his representation if elected to the House of Representatives.


He pledged to initiate and support more youth-oriented programmes and legislative interventions focused on skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, technology and digital innovation, education, employment opportunities, sports development, creative industries and access to mentorship and career development.


According to him, his vision is to create an enabling environment where young constituents can acquire relevant skills, develop sustainable businesses, access opportunities and contribute meaningfully to the economic and social development of the Federal Constituency.


Arc. Olaleye also promised to promote programmes that will connect young people with training, funding opportunities, private-sector partnerships and government initiatives, while advocating for policies that address the challenges confronting the younger generation.


He urged the youths of Abeokuta North, Odeda and Obafemi Owode to remain hopeful, engaged and committed to the development of their communities, assuring them that their voices and aspirations would remain important to his political agenda.


“On this World Youth Day, I celebrate every young person in our Federal Constituency. I see your potential, I believe in your dreams, and I am committed to building a future where your talent is not wasted and your ambition is not limited by lack of opportunity.”


Arc. Olaleye called on the youth to participate actively in democratic processes and to use their collective strength to demand competent, accountable and people-oriented leadership.


He restated his commitment to a responsive, inclusive and youth-friendly representation, emphasizing that the progress of the Federal Constituency depends on empowering its young people to become productive participants in the development of their communities.

Ogun Opens Registration for 2027 Hajj Exercise

Aina Obasanjo  The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced registration for the 2027 Hajj exercise, calling on intending pilgrims to begin preparations for the pilgrimage. Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Taiwo Ajibola, made the announcement while speaking with journalists at the Board's office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.  Alhaji Ajibola said prospective pilgrims are required to make an initial deposit of eight million naira, pending the official Hajj fare to be announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria. He urged interested applicants to complete their payments early to secure a place for the pilgrimage, noting that the registration exercise is expected to close on or before September 2026. Alhaji Ajibola advised intending pilgrims to visit the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board at the New Secretariat, Block B, Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, or contact the Board through its official telephone lines for further enquiries.
