Ogun Government Reaffirms Commitment to Diaspora Engagement





The Ogun State Government has reiterated its commitment to strengthen ties with Ogun indigenes living abroad, describing them as valuable partners in the state's development.

Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, gave the assurance while receiving members of the Ogun Indigenes' Forum, Ghana Chapter, on a courtesy visit to his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. 


He was accompanied by the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr. Olusesan Fagbayi.

Mr. Talabi said the Prince Dapo Abiodun administration recognises the vital role of the diaspora in advancing the socio-economic development of Ogun State and remains committed to harnessing their expertise, investments and global experience.

He commended the forum for its unwavering commitment to the state's progress despite residing outside Nigeria, adding that Ogun State would continue to provide an enabling environment for all its sons and daughters to contribute meaningfully to its growth.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr. Olusesan Fagbayi, encouraged Ogun indigenes abroad to remain connected to their roots by leveraging their knowledge, experience and resources to promote the development of the state.

Earlier, President of the Ogun Indigenes' Forum, Ghana Chapter, Hon. Bola Akinsanya, had said that the visit underscored the forum's commitment to preserving the cultural heritage of Ogun indigenes in Ghana while strengthening collaboration with the state government and other stakeholders.

Hon. Akinsanya added that the forum would continue to promote the welfare of Ogun indigenes in Ghana and support initiatives that foster unity and development. 


He also announced that the forum would celebrate the Ogun Day Festival alongside the 50th anniversary of the creation of Ogun State on October 31, 2026, as part of efforts to deepen diaspora participation in the state's development.

The forum's delegation included Engr. Mrs. Florence Bamishe and Dr. Tunji Osho.

Ogun Opens Registration for 2027 Hajj Exercise

Aina Obasanjo  The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced registration for the 2027 Hajj exercise, calling on intending pilgrims to begin preparations for the pilgrimage. Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Taiwo Ajibola, made the announcement while speaking with journalists at the Board's office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.  Alhaji Ajibola said prospective pilgrims are required to make an initial deposit of eight million naira, pending the official Hajj fare to be announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria. He urged interested applicants to complete their payments early to secure a place for the pilgrimage, noting that the registration exercise is expected to close on or before September 2026. Alhaji Ajibola advised intending pilgrims to visit the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board at the New Secretariat, Block B, Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, or contact the Board through its official telephone lines for further enquiries.
