Ogun Muslim Pilgrims Board Begins 2027 Hajj Sensitisation in Remo

The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced engagement with the League of Imams and Alfas in the Remo Zone as part of preparations for the registration of intending pilgrims for the 2027 Hajj.

The engagement aimed at strengthening collaboration with Islamic leaders, is also designed to prepare Imams and Alfas for a sensitization campaign to be held in mosques across the zone.

The campaign will focus on educating intending pilgrims on the 2027 Hajj registration process, preparations for the pilgrimage and the need to obtain timely and accurate information from the appropriate authorities.

Speaking during the meetings, the Executive Secretary of the Board, Mr Ajibola Taiwo, described the League of Imams and Alfas as critical stakeholders in the success of the Hajj exercise.

Mr Taiwo said the involvement of Islamic leaders from the early stages would help ensure that intending pilgrims receive accurate information and are encouraged to register on time.

Responding, the President-General of the League of Imams and Alfas, Sheikh Jinadu, commended the Board's management for engaging the Islamic leadership and keeping them abreast of preparations for the 2027 Hajj.

Sheikh Jinadu also applauded the Ogun State Government for what he described as the successful conduct of the 2026 Hajj, particularly the airlift of pilgrims through the Gateway International Airport, Iperu.

He expressed optimism that the state would continue to make progress in the aviation sector.

Sheikh Jinadu assured the Board of the continued support and cooperation of Imams and Alfas across the state towards ensuring a successful 2027 Hajj registration and sensitisation exercise.

Ogun Opens Registration for 2027 Hajj Exercise

Aina Obasanjo  The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced registration for the 2027 Hajj exercise, calling on intending pilgrims to begin preparations for the pilgrimage. Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Taiwo Ajibola, made the announcement while speaking with journalists at the Board's office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.  Alhaji Ajibola said prospective pilgrims are required to make an initial deposit of eight million naira, pending the official Hajj fare to be announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria. He urged interested applicants to complete their payments early to secure a place for the pilgrimage, noting that the registration exercise is expected to close on or before September 2026. Alhaji Ajibola advised intending pilgrims to visit the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board at the New Secretariat, Block B, Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, or contact the Board through its official telephone lines for further enquiries.
