Ogun PDP Candidate, Oyebande, Urges Youths to Reject Violence, Defend Democracy

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Candidate for Abeokuta North State Constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly, Moruff Kehinde Oyebande populary referred to as AMOROS, has urged young people in council area and across Ogun State to remain committed to education, entrepreneurship, civic responsibility and peaceful participation in democratic processes.



In a goodwill message marking the 2026 International Youth Day, Hon Oyebande described youths as a critical force in nation building and the future of Nigeria, noting that their energy, creativity, innovation and determination remain essential to the development and progress of the country.

He noted that the strength of any society lies in the ability of its young people to contribute positively to its growth, adding that youths must be given greater opportunities to participate meaningfully in governance and decision-making.


Hon. Oyebande also called on young Nigerians to use their voices responsibly, reject violence and intimidation, and protect the democratic values that guarantee a better future for all.


He expressed confidence that the forthcoming polls would provide an opportunity for citizens, particularly youths, to exercise their civic responsibilities and contribute to strengthening democracy in Ogun State.


The PDP candidate encouraged the people of Abeokuta North, especially young voters, to participate actively and peacefully in the electoral process, stressing the importance of making informed choices based on competence, character, accountability and a genuine commitment to public service.


He also called on political actors and stakeholders to ensure that the forthcoming elections are peaceful, credible, transparent and inclusive, with the interests of the people placed above personal or partisan considerations.


Hon. Oyebande reaffirmed his commitment to supporting policies and initiatives that will create opportunities for young people, promote skills development, encourage entrepreneurship and ensure that the voices of youths are adequately represented in governance.

He said: “On this International Youth Day, I celebrate the resilient and vibrant youths of Ogun State, particularly the young people of Abeokuta North. You are not merely leaders of tomorrow; you are partners in building our society today. Your ideas, energy and participation are indispensable to the progress of our constituency and our state.”

Ogun Opens Registration for 2027 Hajj Exercise

Aina Obasanjo  The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced registration for the 2027 Hajj exercise, calling on intending pilgrims to begin preparations for the pilgrimage. Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Taiwo Ajibola, made the announcement while speaking with journalists at the Board's office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.  Alhaji Ajibola said prospective pilgrims are required to make an initial deposit of eight million naira, pending the official Hajj fare to be announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria. He urged interested applicants to complete their payments early to secure a place for the pilgrimage, noting that the registration exercise is expected to close on or before September 2026. Alhaji Ajibola advised intending pilgrims to visit the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board at the New Secretariat, Block B, Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, or contact the Board through its official telephone lines for further enquiries.
