Abeokuta 10KM Races: Adeola Assures Organizers of Support

The Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, has pledged his support for the 2026 Abeokuta 10KM Race, scheduled to hold on October third.

Senator Adeola, who is also the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Ogun State, gave the assurance when the Managing Director of Nilayo Sports Management Limited, Yetunde Olopade, paid him a courtesy visit to formally invite him to the race.

The race is being held in honour of the Senator.

Senator Adeola commended Mrs. Olopade for her leadership of Nilayo Sports Management Limited and expressed satisfaction with the achievements recorded by the company under her watch.



He said he appreciated the decision to honour him with the race, promising to make every effort to attend the event despite his busy schedule.

Earlier, Mrs. Olopade said Senator Adeola was being honoured for his contributions to youth and sports development in Ogun State.

She presented a running kit to the Senator and appealed to him to support the event and grace the occasion.

The 2026 Abeokuta 10KM Race is designed specifically for Nigerian athletes, with the organisers saying the initiative is aimed at promoting homegrown sporting talent and creating a lasting legacy in road running.

Registration for the race is ongoing at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Kuto, Abeokuta.

Registered participants are expected to collect their race kits between September thirtieth and October second, ahead of the race on October third.

The event, now in its fifth edition, is expected to attract athletes, sports enthusiasts and other stakeholders in the Nigerian athletics community.

Ogun Opens Registration for 2027 Hajj Exercise

Aina Obasanjo  The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced registration for the 2027 Hajj exercise, calling on intending pilgrims to begin preparations for the pilgrimage. Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Taiwo Ajibola, made the announcement while speaking with journalists at the Board's office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.  Alhaji Ajibola said prospective pilgrims are required to make an initial deposit of eight million naira, pending the official Hajj fare to be announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria. He urged interested applicants to complete their payments early to secure a place for the pilgrimage, noting that the registration exercise is expected to close on or before September 2026. Alhaji Ajibola advised intending pilgrims to visit the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board at the New Secretariat, Block B, Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, or contact the Board through its official telephone lines for further enquiries.
