The Ogun State Police Command has pledged its support and collaboration with the Ogun State Alternate Medicine Board, OGAMB, in its efforts to regulate and standardise the practice of Traditional, Complementary and Alternative Medicine, TCAM, in the state.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, made the commitment when the management of OGAMB paid him a courtesy visit at the Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.

CP Ojajuni described the regulation of traditional and alternative medicine as a complex but important task, stressing the need to prioritise standardisation to safeguard lives and improve service delivery.

The Commissioner acknowledged that traditional medicine had been passed down through generations, but called for the scientific development of indigenous healing practices to meet modern standards.

He also stressed the need to strengthen the laws guiding the practice, in line with relevant federal legislation, particularly in the areas of governance, equity, fairness and justice.

CP Ojajuni commended the Chairman of OGAMB, Balogun Nurudeen Olaleye, and the management of the Board for their efforts in managing the sensitive and dynamic sector.

Earlier, the Chairman of OGAMB, Balogun Nurudeen Olaleye, who led the delegation, thanked the Commissioner for his interest in and support for alternative medicine.

He said the Board looked forward to sustained collaboration with the Police Command in areas critical to the regulation and development of TCAM in Ogun State.

Balogun Olaleye described the Police as a key stakeholder in the actualisation of the Board's mandate and expressed confidence in the leadership of the Command.
