Ogun: SWAN Receives 3KVA Generator from SSA on Youth Development

The Senior Special Assistant to the Ogun State Governor on Youth Development, Hon. Tunde Delu has donated a three-KVA generator to the Ogun State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN.

Hon. Delu presented the generator during a working visit to the association’s secretariat at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Kuto, Abeokuta.

The donation was part of the activities marking the visit, during which the Governor’s aide sought the support of the association for his forthcoming boxing event scheduled for November.

Receiving the generator, the Chairman of Ogun SWAN, Comrade Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji, expressed appreciation to Hon. Delu for what he described as a timely intervention.

Comrade Ogunsiji said the previous generator had served the association for more than ten years, having been passed down through successive administrations.

He explained that the old generator was inherited from the administration of former SWAN Chairman, Alhaji Hakeem Akintunde, which had itself inherited it from the Biodun Alabi-led executive.

The SWAN Chairman said the new generator would provide essential support for the day-to-day activities of the association and improve the working environment at its secretariat.

He also commended Hon. Delu for his interest in youth and sports development, stressing that supporting sports journalists would contribute to the growth of the sports sector in Ogun State.

Ogun Opens Registration for 2027 Hajj Exercise

Aina Obasanjo  The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced registration for the 2027 Hajj exercise, calling on intending pilgrims to begin preparations for the pilgrimage. Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Taiwo Ajibola, made the announcement while speaking with journalists at the Board's office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.  Alhaji Ajibola said prospective pilgrims are required to make an initial deposit of eight million naira, pending the official Hajj fare to be announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria. He urged interested applicants to complete their payments early to secure a place for the pilgrimage, noting that the registration exercise is expected to close on or before September 2026. Alhaji Ajibola advised intending pilgrims to visit the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board at the New Secretariat, Block B, Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, or contact the Board through its official telephone lines for further enquiries.
