Scoop City Debuts in Abeokuta, Targets Youth Hangouts




A new dessert and lifestyle destination, Scoop City, has opened its doors to the public in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The new outlet, located within Wokcity along the Lalubu axis of Oke-Ilewo, was officially opened on Wednesday, September second, with a launch event that attracted content creators, lifestyle bloggers and social media influencers from Abeokuta and neighbouring Lagos.

The opening featured a creative concept tagged “Scoop and Paint,” combining dessert tasting with artistic expression.

Guests were treated to a variety of ice cream and dessert offerings, while also participating in a painting session.

The event provided an opportunity for guests to explore the new space, interact and share their experiences across various social media platforms.

Speaking on the initiative, the management explained that the collaboration with Wokcity is designed to provide customers with an integrated dining and leisure experience.

According to the management, the idea is to create a space where people can enjoy quality desserts while relaxing, socialising and engaging in creative activities.

The establishment is also expected to complement the existing dining services at Wokcity by giving customers access to specialty desserts under the same roof.

Some of the guests who attended the launch expressed positive impressions about the concept, particularly the combination of food, entertainment and art.

The launch also generated attention on social media, with attendees sharing photographs and videos of the event and the newly opened space.

For the organisers, the opening is the beginning of a broader plan to introduce more lifestyle and community-based activities for customers.

Scoop City is expected to cater to a growing market of young people, families and visitors looking for spaces for casual outings, dates and social gatherings.

The opening comes as Abeokuta continues to witness increased activity in the hospitality, food and entertainment sectors.

With its focus on desserts, creativity and social interaction, Scoop City is positioning itself as a new addition to the city’s growing hospitality landscape.

Ogun Opens Registration for 2027 Hajj Exercise

Aina Obasanjo  The Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced registration for the 2027 Hajj exercise, calling on intending pilgrims to begin preparations for the pilgrimage. Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Taiwo Ajibola, made the announcement while speaking with journalists at the Board's office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.  Alhaji Ajibola said prospective pilgrims are required to make an initial deposit of eight million naira, pending the official Hajj fare to be announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria. He urged interested applicants to complete their payments early to secure a place for the pilgrimage, noting that the registration exercise is expected to close on or before September 2026. Alhaji Ajibola advised intending pilgrims to visit the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board at the New Secretariat, Block B, Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, or contact the Board through its official telephone lines for further enquiries.
