The Chairman of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Evangelist Olalekan Ifede, has commended the 2025 Overall Best Teacher in Nigeria, Mr. Francis Solanke, for contributing to the development of basic education in his community.
Ifede gave the commendation during the commissioning of renovated classrooms at Ansar-Ud-Deen Main Primary School One, Kemta-Ilawo, in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The SUBEB Chairman described the renovation as a commendable initiative that would improve the learning environment for pupils and teachers.
He congratulated Solanke for bringing honour to Ogun State through his achievement and urged the pupils to emulate his dedication by taking their studies seriously, listening to their teachers and striving for excellence.
Also speaking, the Education Secretary, Abeokuta North Local Government, Chief Oluwole Ayorinde, congratulated Solanke for making the local government proud and prayed for continued blessings on his efforts towards improving education in the community.
Other education stakeholders, including representatives of the Association of Primary School Headteachers of Nigeria, AOPSHON; Parent Club; Association of Primary School Teachers of Nigeria, APSTON; and the Nigerian Union of Teachers, NUT, commended the gesture.
They said the renovation would provide a safer and more conducive environment for teaching and learning and urged Solanke to sustain his contribution to education.
Earlier, the Headteacher of the school, Mrs Grace Amoo, disclosed that two classrooms had undergone extensive renovation, while additional improvements were made to the frontage of a third classroom and the adjoining side of the building.
She appealed to the pupils to protect the facilities and make effective use of the improved learning environment.
Responding, Ambassador Solanke said the project was not about an individual but a collective commitment to the school, the community and the future of the children.
He explained that the intervention was his contribution to the school community, which he said had remained an important part of his journey.
