The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Abeokuta North/Odeda/Obafemi Owode Federal Constituency, Arc. Dele Olaleye has congratulated teachers across Nigeria, particularly those serving in the three local government areas of the constituency, on the occasion of the 2026 Teachers’ Day celebration.

Arc. Olaleye in a statement in Abeokuta described teachers as the backbone of the nation’s educational system and indispensable partners in the development of human capital, stressing that no society can achieve sustainable economic growth and meaningful development without a strong, motivated and adequately supported teaching workforce.

He commended teachers for their dedication, sacrifices and resilience in shaping the minds and character of future generations, noting that their contributions extend far beyond the classroom to the overall social and economic development of the country.

Arc. Olaleye acknowledged that despite the challenges confronting the education sector, teachers have continued to demonstrate commitment to their profession and to the development of Nigerian children and youths.

He assured teachers in Abeokuta North, Odeda and Obafemi Owode Local Government Areas that, if elected to represent the constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, their interests and welfare would receive serious consideration in his legislative agenda.

According to him, effective representation must include advocacy for policies that improve the working conditions of teachers, strengthen public education, promote professional development, and create an environment where educators can perform their responsibilities with dignity and confidence.

“If elected, I will regard the concerns of our teachers as an important part of my responsibility as your representative. I will use the legislative platform available to me to advocate for policies and interventions that promote quality education and improve the welfare, capacity and professional standing of our teachers.”

The PDP candidate emphasised that investment in teachers is an investment in the future of the constituency and the nation, adding that a well-educated and properly equipped population is essential to economic productivity, innovation, employment creation and sustainable development.

He called on governments at all levels, education stakeholders, parents and communities to continue to support teachers and the education sector, while urging teachers themselves to remain committed to the noble calling of educating and inspiring the next generation.

Arc. Olaleye wished teachers across the country, and particularly those in Abeokuta North, Odeda and Obafemi Owode, a happy and rewarding Teachers’ Day celebration.
