CAF Petition: Rangers Raises Alarm Over Alleged Vandalism in Abeokuta

Rangers International Football Club of Enugu has petitioned the Confederation of African Football, CAF, over alleged acts of vandalism and disorder involving visiting supporters during and after its CAF Champions League fixture against MC Alger in Abeokuta.

In a statement the club said the incidents occurred at the MKO Abiola Stadium during Sunday's encounter, with allegations of damage to a stadium entrance gate, unauthorised entry without payment of gate fees and vandalism of stadium seats.

Rangers International said that it has called on CAF to urgently intervene and consider appropriate precautionary measures ahead of the return fixture scheduled for Friday, October 23rd, in Algiers, Algeria.

The club reaffirmed its commitment to fair play, football regulations and the safety of players, officials, supporters and other stakeholders.

It also expressed confidence in CAF's established procedures, while urging its supporters to remain calm and disciplined as the team prepares for the return leg.
