HON BELLO URGES POLITICAL OFFICE HOLDERS TO EMBARK ON LIFE-SAVING PROGRAMMES

Political office holders have been urged to embark on life-saving programmes that will improve the living conditions of their constituents and strengthen democracy at the grassroots level.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and General Manager of the Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency, OGEPA, Hon. Kehinde Bello made the call during a one-day free optical medical outreach organised for residents of Ijebu East, Ijebu North and Ogun Waterside Local Government Areas.

The programme, tagged Jigi Bello, was held at the Ijebu Imusin Muslim Community Events Centre, with more than two thousand residents expected to benefit from free eye examinations and corrective glasses.

Hon. Bello explained that the initiative was part of his contribution to grassroots development and democratic dividends in his federal constituency.

He said the outreach was designed to restore hope, improve the quality of life, promote human dignity and ensure that access to quality eye care was not limited by financial constraints.

The OGEPA General Manager noted that the programme would bring essential eye care services closer to the people, encourage early detection of eye problems and facilitate professional advice, appropriate treatment and referrals where necessary.

He also pledged to bear the cost of referrals for beneficiaries who require further medical attention, while urging other political office holders to initiate programmes with direct and lasting benefits for their constituents.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government, Doctor Kehinde Oluwadare, commended Honourable Bello for the initiative, describing it as beneficial to residents across the three local government areas.

He encouraged the sponsor to sustain the programme for the overall well-being of the people and the continued growth of the political party in the area.

Also speaking, the Moyegeso of Itele, Oba Mufutau Kasali, who benefited from the outreach, called on political office holders and well-meaning individuals to give back to society through similar humanitarian interventions.

Some beneficiaries, including Mrs Arinola Adesanya and Pa Sanni Babatunde, expressed appreciation to the sponsor, saying the eye examinations and glasses would improve their vision and daily activities.
