The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Abeokuta North, Obafemi Owode and Odeda Federal Constituency, Arc. Dele Olaleye has congratulated Nigerians particularly the people of Ogun State and residents of Abeokuta North, Obafemi Owode and Odeda on the occasion of Nigeria's Independence Day.
Arc. Olaleye in a statement in Abeokuta described Independence Day as an important moment to reflect on Nigeria's journey as a nation, celebrate the resilience of its people and renew our collective commitment to building a peaceful, prosperous and democratic society.
He acknowledged the sacrifices and contributions of Nigerians across generations who have worked to strengthen the unity, development and democratic institutions of our country.
According to him, the challenges confronting the nation should reinforce, rather than diminish, the responsibility of citizens and leaders to work together for a better Nigeria.
“Independence Day reminds us that nation-building is a collective responsibility. As Nigerians, we must continue to promote unity, accountability, justice and inclusive development. Our democracy must deliver meaningful opportunities and a better quality of life for our people.”
Speaking to the people of Ogun State and the Federal Constituency, Arc. Olaleye reaffirmed his commitment to representing the interests of the people and promoting effective legislative representation focused on issues affecting communities, families, young people, businesses and vulnerable citizens.
He also called on eligible voters to participate actively in the forthcoming elections, stressing the importance of informed civic participation and the exercise of the constitutional right to vote.
“I encourage our people to obtain their Permanent Voter's Cards where applicable, participate peacefully in the electoral process, and carefully examine the candidates, programmes and records presented to them before making their choices at the polls,” he said.
Arc. Olaleye urged supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party to remain committed to peaceful political engagement and to communicate the party's programmes and vision to voters across the constituency.
He said that the forthcoming elections provide an opportunity for citizens to engage with candidates and parties on their plans for representation, development, accountability and improved governance.
